Listening all night last night and this day and evening long to these deeply beautiful tunes. Song master of simple emotions and words that tumble out into the world wordsmith tuned. Each time we have seen Bob Dylan in concert our appreciation for his music has grown. The Wiltern show a couple years ago had the balcony group stomping and going wild all the while the mass of general admission group was going crazy below as Bob and his band belted out Summertime. God it was a magnificent show of musical showmanship, and then there was the time in the Orange County Fair ampitheatre – mature women and men talking on phones to their friends across the area while Bob and band did their thing – music was good, audience sucked – and the 5 hour wait in the rain at UC Irvine to see him with about 1,000 other people we were so close – could see every experession on his face and the intent of the band to keep pace with his changing que. God what a show – always ending with All along the watchtower, he even did tamborine man although you couldn’t capture it in your head until far into the refrain…changing and rearranging that’s what i have come away from him live act especially loving – the change – the shift of gears, this new stuff on the CD – god i agree with Patti Smith – vinyl would definitely make a difference – buy the vinyl I say – this album/CD/collection of ballads is so tight and romantic, voice crystal clear, stripping you down and biting into your soul with blues acoustic guitars and soft snare beatings, i feel my hips swaying and my mind saying hand me a cool beer or maybe even a gin and tonic, i want to dance, walk into the night and say prayers to my world trying to feel.
